Well, it’s official.  I’m the slacker of this group.  I’ve been “Springing Into Balance” by eating more junk food and not really keeping up with the journal project.  Let’s blame it on the failed transition of my toddler into a real bed and the sleep deprivation that has ensued.

Whoopsie!

“What I’d like to learn more about” is either the best or the worst topic for me.  Best because I have a long list of things.  Worst because I’m not sure that I can narrow it down!

I’d love to learn more about taking photos.  I took one short intro class, and I can’t wait for my next opportunity to take another!  I’m pretty proud of this shot I captured on a foggy morning…IMG_1681

On that note, I’d love to learn more about gardening.  I learn something new every trip to the nursery and every time I experiment with a new plant.  I’d love to become a Master Gardener, but that’ll have to wait for grown-up kids or retirement at this rate!

I have a long list of things I’d like and need to learn about for work.  Like Mary, I have a stack of journals that need scanning and reading.  I’ve got an amazing job lined up starting this summer, and guaranteed, I’ll be learning tons!

I’d like to learn more about history.  American history, women’s history, history of the Middle East, and on and on.  We went to the Air and Space Museum, and I learned about Jacqueline Cochran – who holds the most air records of ANY pilot ever, male or female.  She founded the WASP – Women’s Airforce Service Pilots – who test flew and ferried planes to war zones in WWII.  How awesome is that?  Her biography is on my list.  BTW, Walt Disney designed the WASP patch…

So many more things.  I’d really like to learn about carpentry, clock-making, and all things crafting.  And in my Olympic dreams, I’m going to be a biathlete and take shooting to the next level.  Seriously, I’m going to sign up for biathlete camp at the first opportunity.  I think I could be amazing…IMG_6350

I’m going to end there.  The list goes on, but my ability to stay awake does not.  Nighty-night and ta-ta!

  1. Emily, I love it! I think being a biathlete would be awesome slash hilarious. But in a good way… What is the age range of the olympic biathletes? 2022? (wait is that even an olympics year)? I LOVE LOVE LOVE your new photos. And your list has inspired me. Now I want to add all those things to my list too. History especially, I am lacking knowledge of so many huge events. I have Indiana History and US History fairly down pat thanks to the IN school system and a dedicated class to it all through elementary. And Spanish history thanks to study abroad. But world history? Errr… I know there have been exactly 2 world wars… And something about Archduke Francis Ferdinand.

  2. Love your photos and had to smile when I saw the photo of your shooting. It’s a little known fact about me that I love to shoot as well. It’s a hobby-sport that my youngest son and I do together. So nice to meet you! Blessings, Kelly

  3. This is a great post! Its inspired me to come up with a list of things that I’d like to learn more about! Many of these things are on my list too…especially gardening! That’s my goal for the summer :)

  4. Ooooh… I’m totally making a wish list of novel things to do this year. Love it! I think the moment you write it down, it becomes more solid in your mind and certainly, more achievable all of a sudden. Top 2 for me would be that I wish I could play the Harmonica (am buying one to make this happen!) and I wish I could speak Spanish (will get the opportunity to be immersed in a month’s time!)

So much to learn, so little time!

    • Emily that is awesome – Harmonica would be such a unique skill! Spanish is awesome to learn. So many countries speak it and you can get by in Italy too. :) I lived in Madrid for 7 months in college, immersion is DEFINITELY the way to go for quick learning!

  5. G’day! Glad i did not miss you post today, true!
I have always wanted to learn about simple furniture restoration and also how to do food related videos where the food looks like it cooks itself from start to finish.
    Cheers! Joanne

    • Oh those are two good ones Joanne! I have a few chairs in my garage I got at a yard sale and I have plans to re-do. Maybe this summer. :) I know nothing about it but it should be a fun experiment!
